Contact Us. The Fine Print Privacy Policy Terms of Use 2015 City of Sunnyvale 9/20/2016 1 check-inYay to one of my first visits to a public library after graduating college! After moving to the area, I wanted to get more in touch with the community as well as brush up on my reading. That directed me to Sunnyvale Public Library, a highly rated library on Yelp. First off, compared to most libraries that I have been to growing up, this branch has a decent sized parking lot.

Even though there seems to be a lot of traffic going in and out of the library, there's plenty of space to go around. The library is only one level, but it's pretty big for a suburban branch. There's plenty of signs hanging around that will tell you where to go. I generally gravitate towards the quiet area for studying, but there's plenty of kids areas as well. The staff members are also mostly friendly.

I came in looking to start a new library card, and the lady at the front desk was prompt, clear, and pretty straightforward in the policies. Note that if you sign up for a card, but don't have evidence that you are a current resident of the city, you won't be able to check out more than one book at a time. Also, your card lasts for five years. Fun facts!tl;dr This is a great library and I will be visiting it at least weekly. Come check it out! 7/22/2016 1 check-inLove this library! There is a ton of parking, which is good because it is a popular place.

By the entrance, there are tables where people sit outside to chat or take a break, along with some nice garden areas and a famous little statue. A cute entrance! The staff is pleasant and helpful, and they signed me up for a library card with no hassles.

You can check out up to 100 items I believe (WOW!), and you also have access to their ebooks. The selection there isn't as large as in the library itself, but it isn't shabby either, and it's nice to be able to just virtually check out a book and read it on my kindle. It's nice and quiet, very conducive to studying and working. There are tons of desks available, and plenty of spots where you can charge your electronics. You can also rent something from the library while there that can charge electronics. They also rent CDs, movies, have a wide selection of magazines, and have books in many languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, etc.).

Also, they have lots of fun free programs, like free English study groups. The hours are awesome too, because they are open til 9 pm most nights, which seems late to me for a public library but no complaints there!

Love being able to not have to leave by 5 pm.I really enjoyed being here to study and work - my husband and I were here yesterday and came back because we enjoyed it so much! 7/18/2016 1 check-inListed in I don't study well in silencePlenty of parking at the Sunnyvale Public Library!Once you're inside, everything is clearly marked. BIG plus. Lots and lots of space for lounging, reading newspapers, and my favorite thing to do in libraries.STUDY STUDY STUDY!Wifi is free and flows fast, but that means it's not as secure.

I saw a lot of older people in the newspaper section since I was in the "QUIET AREA" at the far end of the library. I didn't see as many kids as I thought I would have, but they have their own area.as do the teens. There seems to be a huge section in Chinese, Vietnamese, and Hindi since Sunnyvale caters to specific populations.Restrooms are clean and right at the entrance!

I love that they have lots of outdoor table seating, but computer folk.your best bet is indoors because that's where the outlets are. When I was there last Thursday night almost until closing, I also observed a few stale-smelling hobos pacing around in the library. Reminded me of good old college days. 5/16/2016 14 check-insWish I could have given a 4.5. Love this place. Have all kinds of options, quite-area, not-so-quite-area.

Comfy-chairs, not-so-comfy-chairs and couches. Kids area, teen area and adult sections. The movie collection is good too.The study tables don't have charging points (Cupertino library does), only the spots facing the wall have charging points. (Although you can ask the staff for a borrow-able portable charger at the front desk) They have quite a few computers for clients to use and some catalog search stations too.

There help available for research and IT both. What I like most is the Jig-saw puzzle table, feel like taking a break? Go to the play table and solve a 1000 piece jigsaw!!Needs more washroom stalls (the -0.5 comes from here) 500 pieces. 2.5 hours (boundary and the bowl were already done).! I hope they don't put out any new puzzles so I can actually study.

:p 500 pieces. 2.5 hours (boundary and the bowl were already done).! I hope they don't put out any new puzzles so I can actually study. :p 5/24/2016 1 check-inMeh the book sale was just ok. I've seen better. Definitively picked through really good by the time I had a chance to swing by on Sunday. $5 bag filled up with as many books, DVDs, etc not too shabby.

But I'm looking for romance novels. Definitely few and far between at this location. Pass next time 8/22/2016Decent little library, nothing special about it. It's nice and quite and people where actually reading or studying. It's a little dingy though. Compared to the Mountain View location this place is a dump.

I even saw a harmless homeless laying out in front of this place. Depends on how you feel about that but I nor the people there seemed to mind.

The staff seems very dry and uninterested in their job; well at least the woman I spoke to who pointed me in the direction of the scanner. They had ONE scanner in the entire place so I had to wait a while in order to use it. The great part was it's free to scan to a USB drive if you have one.

I'd come here again only if I'm in the area. Other then that I'll stick to the Mountain View public library. 12/19/2015 8 check-insStaff is Helpful. Place is nice and quiet. I enjoy coming here for getting homework done. They've got many tables for laptop use.Not sure as to why I got only 90 mins of computer use. Need this while my laptops in the shop. 8/1/2015 3 check-insListed in Libraries! The Sunnyvale library is large and sunny with plenty of parking.

From the outside it does not look very large but once you enter you realize that it is a large modern building. It is full of nooks, crannies, and alcoves which help the sound from carrying from one part of the building to the next. The children's area is a nice size and has cute decorations.

There is a reference desk that sits between here and the young adult section for quick and easy service. They actually have a real dedicated teen areas, which many libraries do not have. It is small but has a decent looking collection. 2/9/2016 2 check-ins2 storytelling sessions for babies under 24 months every week! I didn't quite enjoy them until recently. There is now a more energetic and enthusiastic storytelling librarian in the house. My baby gets an excellent supply of board books here.I love knitting and crocheting.

This is one of the best library for resources on knitting, crochet, sewing, crafting, cooking and all other hobbies.Among other genres, I also find many adult books on baby care, entrepreneurship, business, career, laws etc.

Not to mention a huge collection of books in foreign languages.Watch out for various interesting events organized in the library too.The exterior does not look quite appealing. But the librarians are mostly quite friendly and helpful. It is certainly one of the best libraries in the Bay Area. 3/29/2015 1 check-inA lot of books, resources, and educational material but it feels a bit outdated compared to mountain view. Story time is very popular at 11am, and there's so many mom's and kids in the rec room that you feel a little bit claustrophobic being there.

Kids area is always busy with kids, mom's, and nannies. Or just people who sit around while the kids play with toys.I stopped by to do some research on what children enjoy reading from specific ages
